Boeing inaugurates communications facility in Brisbane

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) has recently inaugurated a facility in Brisbane dedicated to developing communications capability for the Australian Defence Force (ADF), the corporation has confirmed.

The new unit supports a AUD665.7 million (USD513 million) contract awarded to the company in September 2015 under Project Land 2072 Phase 2B through which BDA will provide the ADF with a "battle-space communications system" that the company refers to as Currawong.

Lee Davis, Project Currawong director, advised that the new facility, which employs around 170 people and commenced operations on 3 August, is tasked with developing a communications system for the ADF that is both resilient and innovative.
