Sydney-based Sonartech Atlas announced on March 21 that it has been awarded a contract to supply the Swedish Royal Navy with its Intercept Detection and Ranging Sonar (IDRS) system for their next generation submarines, the A-26. The IDRS provides the Submarine the unique capability to detect, range and track active underwater pulses from sources such as an active sonar transmissions, torpedos and underwater communication systems.  

Sonartech Atlas is the world leader in Active Intercept and Ranging (AI&R) Sonars. The IDRS is part of Sonartech Atlas’ AI&R product group, this group includes SATEPS, as the system supplied to the RAN and installed in Australia’s Collins Class Submarines. Fully developed in Australia this technology has been exported to many other Navies around the world including South Korea, Israel, Turkey, Portugal and Greece.
